About
Jean-Lou is a hands-on design leader with 15+ years of experience getting brand and product to tell the same story, across agencies and in-house teams. He is currently Head of Design at Heetch, a ride-hailing app operating across Europe and Africa, where he sits inside the product organization alongside user research and service design, reporting directly to the Co-founder and CPO.
At Heetch, he unified brand and product on a single token system, working directly with marketing, after the app and the campaigns had been telling two different visual stories. He also led the shift from fixed fares to auction-style pricing across both apps on iOS and Android, shipped end to end and up 17% in rides within thirty days, and rebuilt the product's foundations for accessibility across two themes and five languages including right-to-left Arabic. He replaced the company's external agency spend with an in-house AI production pipeline built on Midjourney and Lottie.
Before Heetch, he served as Director of Visual Design at Carvana, where he built and led a distributed team of 10 multidisciplinary designers to develop and roll out a new brand identity across marketing, retail, social, and product touchpoints.
Originally from France, Jean-Lou spent 13 years in North America before moving to Barcelona, and has built and mentored distributed teams across the US, Europe, and Africa. At R/GA in New York he led visual design and the global design system for the Converse.com replatform, and designed financial products for Goldman Sachs including the Marquee risk-management platform and the Private Wealth Management app. At Deutsch in Los Angeles he co-led the visual identity for Google Stadia with Google Creative Lab.
His work has won an Emmy, along with recognition from the Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, One Show, Webby Awards and D&AD Pencils.
