About

Jean-Lou is a hands-on design leader with 15+ years of experience building high-craft digital experiences and the systems that hold them together. He is currently Head of Design at Heetch, a ride-hailing app operating across Europe and Africa.

At Heetch, he defined a new visual language called After Dark and led the shift from fixed fares to auction-style pricing across apps, shipped end to end, and rebuilt the product's foundations: dark mode as the primary theme, unified tokens across brand and product, and accessibility across both. The apps run in five languages, including right-to-left Arabic.

Before Heetch, he served as a Director of Visual Design at Carvana, where he led a team of 10 multidisciplinary designers to develop and roll out a new brand identity across marketing, retail, social, and product touchpoints.

At Deutsch he redesigned tacobell.com and the Taco Bell app, and rebuilt almonds.com for the Almond Board of California as a flexible system serving three audiences across North America, Europe, and Asia. Before that, he led visual design and the global design system for the Converse.com replatform at R/GA in New York, from pitch through launch over 16 months, working alongside engineering throughout. Conversion and core e-commerce metrics rose after launch with no paid media behind it.

Originally from France, Jean-Lou spent 13 years in North America before moving to Barcelona, and has built and mentored teams across the US, Europe, and Africa. He has also designed digital experiences and products for Nike, Jordan, and Goldman Sachs, and developed concepts and design directions for agency pitches that won new business.

His work has won an Emmy, along with recognition from the Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, One Show, Webby Awards, and D&AD Pencils.
